Default Wireless Network WAN dropouts.

Can anyone help me!! I've had a Toshiba laptop with Netgear router wokring
perfetly for the last 6 months. Now it's dropping the 'outside world' and
keeps telling me I have only Local access. Spoke to a mate who said he has
had the same issues only recently. Seems it may be a recent update that is
causing the problem?? Any help is appreciated.
