Default How do I move the users dir?

So is there no solution for this yet from MS?

I cannot believe this very much sought after request has not yet been
rectified by MS...

Are there any third party solutions that can do this for you painlessly....

Don't do this, it's unsupported and it will break upgrades.

Instead, you can move the individual folders inside your %USERPROFILE%
directory. Select the folder, right-click, choose Location, and enter the
new location. Windows will move all the files and folders inside that
folder.

I have a second HDD and want all my user files to be stored there how do
I
move C:\Users - D:\Users?

Hi,
Unfortunatelly i tried this solution and it gave me destructive result. I
have Vista Business 64 bit, after operation like it is described in this
article the "regedit" was not found in system, any kind of registry was
unable to open and also profile folders were still on system root
partition,
not on other partition like I wanted to have. Probably this works in
Windows
XP, but on mine did not work. Is there any other solution for this?

Regards,
Inixi

Default How do I move the users dir?

When I searched my Vista Home Premium's Help & Support section, it did not
say I could move the c:\Users folder, but it did state that I could move its
subfolders, as well as the Public folder.

This is a bit annoying, because what happens is that you still have
c:\Users\Me in the old location, and then all of its subfolders are elsewhere
on the D drive. The way to do so is to select each subfolder, one at a time,
and right-click on it, then select "Properties." There should be a
"Location" tab, and that's where you can type in the new location for that
folder. If you don't see a location tab, then I assume the folder can't be
moved.

It would be ideal if the entire Users folder AND its subfolders can be moved
in one sweep, although I don't know how this will affect programs installed
on the C drive, looking for your data or settings for it and not being able
to find it...
