Have a read of the above link. Also, make sure that the 3 computers have the SAME workgroup name. StartComputerright-clickpropertiescomp name, etc Also, in Vista Network and Sharing: ! Network Discovery:ON 2 File Sharing:ON 3 Public folder sharing:ON (public folder in Vista is the same as Shared Docs in XP) 4 Password protected:OFF 5 Your network now should be private. ::Computer (A) XP Home, SP3 fully patched, Webroot Spysweeper disabled, windows firewall disabled, no other AV/FW currently, had PacBell security but was uninstalled. Hardwired to PacBell HomeZone DSL router. Can’t load LLTP as it is older than SP3. Changed workgroup to “Workgroup” to match Vista. Shared printer:: ::Computer (B) Vista Home Premium 32-bit, fully patched. AVGFree disabled, windows firewall disabled, no other AV/FW. Enabled network discovery, private network, shared folders, no passwords… Internet, email… all work fine through wireless:: : A) can ping (B) and attached to shared resources.::: B) can’t ping (A) see (A) or attached to shared printer. WhenI ping by IP it times out, when I ping by hostname it displays the IP of (A) but times out. Network map did show (A) one time but not again and has never connected.:: ::What am I missing?:: ::Thanks in advance:: ::Toy4Rick:: -- toy4rick |

Sound like firewall issue. For troubleshooting, try clean boot.
