ATIKMDAG.SYS BSOD
I have an ATI Radoen 9800xt When I installed Vista RC1 x64 (5600) during
initial configuration (after instalation) i would get a bsod citing a failure of atikmdag.sys approximately every 60-120 seconds. I managed to run through the configuration as quickly as possible and managed to get through it before the system bsoded, hoping that it was something in installation. Unfortunately I had no such luck, i still would BSOD, and now it would not give me enough time to update to the ATI released RC1 drivers. So after searching the internet i found the idea to boot into safemode and rename the file atikmdag.sys and then reboot into normal mode focing windows to use the vgasafe driver. so i did this and it worked, so then i installed the latest ati released driver in the hopes that this would fix it, again to no luck. as soon as I booted up w/ the ati driver bsods again. Is there any workaround for this that leaves 3d acceleration running? I've seen seval forums with people asking about this issue, but no answers. There's a post in here, from a ms employee, which states that the drivers that ship w/ RC1 are newere than the ones on ATI's website (doubtful since the drivers on ATI's website are dated after the post) and that those drivers fix the issue, but the drivers included in RC1 don't fix the issue at all, are these some other drivers? and if so where can they be found? |

right now ati drivers have a few issues with their cards. Try moving to Rc2
the In the box drivers are better and RC2 Drivers for ati will be out shortly "tjwasik" wrote: I have an ATI Radoen 9800xt When I installed Vista RC1 x64 (5600) during initial configuration (after instalation) i would get a bsod citing a failure of atikmdag.sys approximately every 60-120 seconds.
