I have a small local area network at my office. Everything is set up on a 12
port switch with ethernet cable. We have a new laptop that has Vista. It says it is connected to the network and when you view the full map you can see the other computers on the network but it will not let you open them! If you click on (Right or Left click) it does absolutely nothing! When I try to access that computer from the other computers on the network (you can see it there) it says the network path is not found. I have disabled the firewall on the local area connection on all these computers and have installed the LLTP responder on all the XP computers, still can't get it to work! It connects to the shared internet connection but that is all. Thanks for any suggestions you can give me! |

The "Network path not found" error is generally a NetBT setting problem, or a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall. http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/07/advanced-windows-networking-using.html http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/0...ing-using.html But since we are mentioning Windows Vista, be aware of the various Vista issues too. http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/12/windows-xp-and-vista-on-lan-together.html http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/1...-together.html And additional possible reasons for the "Network path not found" error. http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/06/mysterious-error-53-aka-name-not-found.html http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/0...not-found.html -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP 2005-2007 [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
