Default netw.switcher for vistas?

hello,
I have problem with my notebook HP6710b and network connection.

In office we have dhcp with range 192.168.2.50-100,gtw 192.168.2.1 (works
good)
at home I have a desktop with xp and two lan cards, one connected via cable
modem to internet and the seccond "prepared" for my nb with ip address
192.168.2.1 and IP forwarding.

I have my new vista lan card nb configured with dhcp settings and "alternate
settings" as 192.168.2.3 and gtw 192.168.2.1
It worked. One time and for 5 minutes. Never more.

When I try to look, what happened, I see (by ipconfig /all) on my notebook,
that my "alternate" connection is set up, but...
but I see two gateways in the first row I see gateway 0,0,0,0 on the second
row my gateway 192.168.2.1

Connection works not. I can ping to desktop, but not through..

Then allways when I came home must LAN card in notebook manualy reconfigure,
confused...

What should I do? Thank you very much for any advice.

Is there any good software for net switching for Vistas available? I need it
for some another networks, not only for those two...

---

hello,
thank you for your no help.
Yesterday I have tried to connect nb straight to the cable modem (Scientific
Atlanta WebStar). It works fine. Tomorrow morning not. Vista "diagnostics"
said that there are more active devices active... I disable network
connection and reanable, and in this moment it start to work.
Or ..can it be a problem with Norton internet security? Was preinstaled on
this new notebook.
I suspect that Vistas causes a lot of network problems, when someone to try
(must) change network connection often.
Thank you very much for your help? again.
