AVG has been working great since 5384. So far it's the only AV software that
I havent seen issues with. "Frank" wrote: Does anybody know which, if any, anti-virus software works with Vista build 5536? THX Frank |

Ok - not good.
Had a working beta2 install on this drive (it's my secondary though, not my primary). Etrust AV is no longer being supported, after signing up for their spam... er AV freebie. Tried the trusty AVG, and it blue screens during install on avgfmrs.sys I believe - another no go. Tried Alwil's Avast (not really one of my favorites, but it was a last resort) and it installs without error - but then can't start due to incompatibility with the rpc service in 5536. Now microsoft is pushing TrendMicro's beta software, which they wish you to pay for - it will not last the duration of the vista preview otherwise. That makes 5536 unusable for me - as it's the Only OS I use that absolutely requires an AV product, but for which no such product is actually available (I'm not paying someone to betatest their software, thank you very much!). I certainly hope that MS can fix this serious bug before too long... I'm glad I still have a (mostly) working Beta2 install on the main drive... for now at least. Avast has been doing a remarkably good job for me. I am quire impressed
with the job it has done so far... and for an old Norton loyalist, that's saying something! "PhoenixJim" wrote: Ok - not good. An update - using administrator mode I managed to get AVG free installed, and
it seems to be working - still no cd/dvd burning yet, but we'll see how that goes. |
