Installing Emulation Software For Game Controller
Hi all. I am one those who simply can't learn to game using the popular
Mouse/Keyboard combination. I have an older Gravis controller that has Mouse and Keyboard emulation software which allows it to be a Mouse, Keyborad, Dual analog sticks, and a gamepad or any combination. The controller shows up just fine in the game controllers aplet, and it also shows up in Device Manager as "HID Game Controller" under HID Devices. In Windows XP, in Device Manager, it is still under HID Devices, but it shows up as Gravis Eliminator Aftershock (the name of the controller). I am trying out Windows Vista 64 Bit RC1, and I have tried hitting F8 at startup and select to "Disable Driver Signing Check", ran the setup file as Administrator, and have disabled UAC, have set it to run the setup file in Windows XP SP2 compattibility mode. The software is called Gravis Xperiance and it appears to install fine, at the end it says "updating your devices" and then asks to re-start the PC, which I do. The controller still only shows up in the Game Controllers using the generic Windows driver, and apparently the Controllers emulation drivers/software are not being installed. The Gravis site does not have any drivers for Vista(and I doubt they will). I am at a loss. I really do NEED this type of controller in order to be able to game, any advice would be appreciated. Thank you... |
