run a cmd prompt as administrator? right click on "cmd.exe", choose
"run as admin.". then try your ipconfig/release command again

when i do this it say's " an error occurred while releasing Interface
loopback Pseudo-interface 1 - the system cant find the file specified" and
under that it show the ip with the 169.254.XX.X just like it would if i put

Looks like you have two Ethernet adapters. Have you tried removing
the cable from where it is and plugging it into the other LAN port
and power cycling the broadband modem? (Or have you tried power
cycling the modem at all? try that first).

Does your user account have admin privileges?

so you have unplugged the modem and plugged it back in yourself in
addition to the remote reset?

assuming you were able to connect last week, can you do a system
restore to a day last week before this issue started?

have you installed any updates? new programs?

run a cmd prompt as administrator? right click on "cmd.exe", choose
"run as admin.". then try your ipconfig/release command again

when i do this it say's " an error occurred while releasing Interface
loopback Pseudo-interface 1 - the system cant find the file specified" and
under that it show the ip with the 169.254.XX.X just like it would if i put
in ip config

connect to the internet on this computer i have another pc with xp on it and
it connects fine i talked to nvida ( my motherboard maker) and all network
adapters are working properly and comcast told me that its not a problem
with them cause i cant release ip

"Barb Bowman" wrote:

so you have unplugged the modem and plugged it back in yourself in
addition to the remote reset?

assuming you were able to connect last week, can you do a system
restore to a day last week before this issue started?

have you installed any updates? new programs?

Looks like you have two Ethernet adapters. Have you tried removing
the cable from where it is and plugging it into the other LAN port
and power cycling the broadband modem? (Or have you tried power
cycling the modem at all? try that first).

Does your user account have admin privileges?
