Every time my Dell 1420 wakes up I need to reset the screen resolution from
low to high. I click apply and say yes when asked if I want to keep the new settings. Why won't the resolution stick? |

I've seen nowhere in this thread where anyone mentioned disabling TMM. I had this same roblem with my XPS M1530 and disabling TMM solved the problem for me. *H-o-w- -t-o- -D-i-s-a-b-l-e- -o-r- -E-n-a-b-l-e- -t-h-e- -T-r-a-n-s-i-e-n-t- -M-u-l-t-i-m-o-n- -M-a-n-a-g-e-r- -(-T-M-M-)- -i-n- -V-i-s-t-a-* *-Information-* Transient Multimon Manager (TMM) is a Microsoft Windows Vista operating system feature targeted at improving the user experience of connecting and disconnecting displays, particularly for the mobile user. This is the 2-3 second delay followed by a blank black screen as Vista searches for monitor changes when you startup Vista. For more information on TMM, see: *'Microsoft: Transient Multimon Manager (TMM)' (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system...epc/TMM.mspx)*[image: http://www.vistax64.com/images/info.png] *-NOTE-* TMM is enabled by default in Vista. Disabling TMM will get rid of that 2-3 second delay at startup.[image: http://www.vistax64.com/images/note.png] *-WARNING-* If you do not use a *external monitor* for a mobile PC or *multiple monitors* on a desktop PC, then you can safely disable TMM. Do not disable TMM if you do.[image: http://www.vistax64.com/images/warn.png] *::RELATED LINKS:::* - 'How to Change the Screen Resolution in Vista' (http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/84...esolution.html) - 'How to Change the DPI Scale in Vista' (http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/84...i-scaling.html) - 'How to Change the Screen Refresh Rate in Vista' (http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/84...resh-rate.html) - 'How to Speed Up the Performance of Vista' (http://tinyurl.com/6km9kn) - 'How to Speed Up Vista Boot Up Time' (http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/70563-boot-up.html) *_-H-e-r-e-'-s-_-H-o-w-:-_-**::1.::* Open the Start Menu.A) Click on *All Programs* - *Accessories* - *System Tools* - and *Task Schedular*.B) Go to step 2.*::OR::* *::1.::* Open the Control Panel (Classic View).A) Click on *Administrative Tools* - *Computer Management*.*::2.::* Click *Continue* for the UAC prompt. *::3.::* In the left pane, expand *Task Scheduler*, *Task Scheduler Library*, *Microsoft*, *Windows*, and click on *MobilePC*.*::4.::* In the middle pane, right click on *TMM*. *::5.
