Hi, I have recently purchased Linksys WRT54GR router.
I can connect to the router but despite hours (literally) of trying I have been unable to access the configuration page. I can ping the router fine but can't open the UI using 192.168.1.1. Have really reached the end of the road with Linksys (reset router, turn off pop up blocker, no proxy server, turn off Windows firewall etc) but still at square 1. The router is definitely working as I went back to the store and they demo'd it on two other laptops. Any thoughts? I'm using Acer laptop with Vista. IP config results below. Stupid question, but are you trying to configure the router by connecting the laptop to it with an ethernet cable? If you're trying to configure it wirelessly, that's why you can't. Use a cable instead. If that isn't your issue, install Firefox and try using it. If it works with Firefox, you've got some security setting and/or add-on in IE that is preventing the access. looks like you are trying to configure using wireless. try with a
wired connection. a few routers will not allow initial config over wireless for security reasons. have you tried doing a hard reset of the router? there is usually a
hole or button on the back of these that you hold down for X seconds. besides the fact that you can't get to the admin pages, do you have Internet connectivity? I'm assuming you are replying from that machine, but just to be sure. On Fri, 28 Sep 2007 06:42:03 -0700, Simon wrote: Thanks for the reply. Yes have done a hard reset, also tried to update the firmware but I have the
latest version. I do have internet connectivity but only on a wired basis (ie not using the wireless - it is disconnected). do you have a proxy configured in IE? are you security settings in

No proxy in IE. Have reduced the security settings as low as I can and
cookies are allowed. "Barb Bowman" wrote: do you have a proxy configured in IE? are you security settings in IE set too high? are you allowing cookies? Have tried with Windows firewall turned off an no luck. The router is
connected to a LAN at one end (my ISP is a LAN on the compound where I live) and from one of the ports to the PC via ethernet. Although the only way I can use the web is to plug the internet cable straight into the PC. "Barb Bowman" wrote: firewall? I can't think of much else that would be interfering.
