Default realtek audio installation error

I did an upgrade from xp pro to vista RC1 build 5600 on my notebook (LG P1
Dual Express), which uses an HD Realtek ALC880 Chip for sound. Vista
installed realtek audio drivers and the sound is fine but I no longer have
access to the realtek HD control panel nor does the S/PDIF out work so I
downloaded the latest vista driver from Realtek's site (5302 PG218 Vista) but
when I try and install it I get a "missed "WDM" Drive Directory. What's that
and how can I correct the problem? Thanks.

Black clouds,

Try doing this.

Remove the device from device manager, do not reboot your computer.

Run the driver install package from Realtek again.

See if that resolves the issue.

If that doesn't remove the device again and then reboot the computer. When
Vista asks for the drivers, point em to the ones you got from Realtek.

Remember some of the more advanced features of your soundcard may not work
till Realtek releases the new application package for Vista.

Thanks for trying. I actually got the blue screen of death by trying to force
the installation of the Realtek driver. In any case just today my problems
have been solved. Realtek has posted a new driver and it installed as smooth
as glass and everything is working beautifully.
