Go to device manager for the drive and look at the properties, make sure
it is set to digital cd audio. It will then play audio over the PCI bus.
You don't need to hook up the optical drives to your soundcard anymore
unless you want analog audio. I have a SATA DVD drive and sound works fine
from it and it is not hooked up to the soundcard. Just make sure it is set
to digital cd audio in device manager and it should play sound fine. If it
doesn't then it is an issue with your soundcard.
