Default And yes, another can't reach DHCP.

your message is very hard to read. I can't tell whether the ipconfig
below is yours or someone else's.

Have you upgraded the firmware on your router? Which hardware
version, model, firmware version is your router? have you tried
disabling ipV6? Have you tried this fix:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b/928233/en-us ?

Default And yes, another can't reach DHCP.

First, you need to make sure you enable DHCP on router/DHCP server.

If you use wired connection, then might try to change the network cable.
Ensure network adapter driver is installed correctly also.

Ping 127.0.0.1, should get reply if the network adapter is working well.

Hope helps..

Sorry about that.

Yes I did try the regedit fix, didn't do any improvement. The ipconfig
/all is mine.

My firmware on the router is the newest. The model is a WRT54G Linksys,
V5

Default And yes, another can't reach DHCP.

1. Click on Start button.
2. Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.
3. Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run Command Prompt as
Administrator. Allow the elevation request.
4. Type
netsh int ip reset
in the cmd windowsl, and then press the Enter key.
5. Restart the computer.

Also, please reset your router to factory defaults (there is
usually a reset button or hole you hold in). Reboot the computer.
Power cycle the router. Does anything change?

"Media state disconnected" means that the computer isn't physically
connected to a network. Check the cable to the DSL modem, and make
sure that the DSL modem is turned on.

I know this has been a while... but I have an extremely similar
motherboard with the same problem - I recieve a 169.254.x.x (I can ping
127.0.0.1 but not router). I have also been searching for 2 days now and
have tried repairing a corrupt TCP/IP stack, disabling IPv6, setting
static IP, setting speed/duplex setting slower, system restore to before
the problem existed, restarting DHCP service, adding registry DWORD32 to
DhcpEnableSomething. I am using an Asus P5N32E-SLI with nforce
networking controller which I have seen in a few posts with this
issue... I have downloaded updated drivers and old drivers neither which
of them have any effect on the problem. the router has enough addresses
and has other machines on it that are fine, I have tested the cable on
laptop which works fine gets DHCP ip... The lights on the back are green
like they are connected.

The strange thing is.. It has worked perfectly for over a year and
nothing changed on the system (no microsoft updates, in the previous
week the only new install was an iTunes update which I uninstalled). I
have really searched and will continue but this post is the most similar
I have found to my problem and was hoping there was some resolution to
it.

Oh, I am using Vista Ultimate x64 SP1

There has to be a fix somewhere for this
