"NOT when I bought mine"
Perhaps it is a regional issue.
Dell has had Windows XP computers continuously available since the
release of Windows XP 6 years ago.
At least in North America.
That does not apply to all models.

It seems your complaint is with HP that has what you need except they
do not offer the operating system you need.

Well, Steve, I already talked to HP and there is not a problem with
my
computer according to them. As for those who say Dell will make a
computer
with XP, NOT when I bought mine, it was after many complaints that
they
started offering other systems. Anyway I don't like Dell and prefer
HP
computer.

Seems to me my complaint is with Microsoft as I am not the only one with
problems with Vista. And not just with HP but also Dell. There is a major
difference and microsoft knows it. So they should step up and fix it, why
bring out something new that is worst then what was before. Sorry, that makes
no sense especially coming from a company such as microsoft. Somebody on the
Vista team really screwed up big time.

The OEMs have options and many choose the cheapest since many of their
customers primary concern is price.
For those customers that want something different, there are plenty of
options.
If Microsoft took away the options, prices would probably go up on the
lower priced computers.

"Additionally local shops around here ..."
And that price break you wanted was your choice.
Along with that cheaper price came more restrictive options.

You had a choice and you chose to purchase a computer with windows
Vista when Windows XP was still an option.
You also chose to accept the reinstall option and media that came with
that choice.

I like choice and many people can benefit from that choice.
They just need to inform themselves so they know the benefits and
disadvantages of each.
A major clue is "cost way more".
Do not stop at cost, find out why the price difference.

Have you posted specifics of your problems as well as specifics of
your hardware and software?

I have to say that honestly I did not know I had an option. I am an average
joe purchasing a computer and I have trust in microsoft, so I go out to the
stores and am told no option but to buy with Vista. Okay, I say, well no
option I will have to learn Vista but I figure it is better since it is a new
Operating System. Upgrade right, ummm, not really, but not informed as most
of us always trust the people who are selling us the merchandise. If I would
have realized I had other options, especially, if I would have known that
Vista was so damn slow, I would of paid more money in a heartbeat because my
time is worth so much more. Sure I can now go out and get XP again, but now I
have spent $1,000's on new upgrades in software and such and don't have any
money to now buy another computer with XP. I would appreciate if microsoft
would help me out. They are certainly big enough that my little problem means
nothing to them. My main beef, Microsoft, if bringing a new product to the
market, it should really, I mean really, be an upgrade and faster and more
efficent then the last system, why else put a product on the martket????????

Sales people in stores are given targets and, if they do not reach them, are
given a dressing down by management. As long as they get SALES, many do not
care beyond that. You entered the store with make and price in mind, and the
store did their part as much as store rules allowed. You made choices that
have seemingly not paid off for you, but they were YOUR choices. You could
have gone elsewhere, buy you chose not to do that.

If you were to be more specific about the problems you have, there are
people here who could help you. Your choice, of course.

Hi I have Vista and use Money 2004 and it runs fine.

"Ricardo L. Mata" wrote:

I agree with you 1000% percent! My perfectly good computer with Windows XP
died suddenly and I had to buy a new one. I could not find anything with XP
so I was forced to move on to Vista and I hate it! It's the lousiest piece
of crap I have ever seen as far as computer systems is concerned. All form
and no substance.

As if taht wasn;t enough, I had to replace around $1000 worth of software
that i was using with XP but which is now incompatible with Vista. Even
MONEY 2007, bought in October of 2006, is incompatible with VISTA.

As far as I am concerned, Bill Gates and all those *******s at Microsoft can
die and rot in hell. They may be billionaires but I don't give a hoot; they
are crooks. God Damn them all.
