Default Failure to find DVD burner on wakeup from sleep or hibernation

I'd check for a BIOS update. Also, some BIOS versions (older ones) had
settable USB options that might cause this sort of behavior. There also were
a few now older DVD drives that needed a firmware update to correctly handle
door operation, etc.

I've checked the event log and it seems that every time this happens there
is an Event ID 15 cdrom entry. I've done some searching on the web but I
don't find a solution.

If I restart the computer the DVD burner shows up and works. This drive
has had a problem with the tray opening. If there is no media in the drive
we have to hit the tray open button several times, but if there is media
in the drive a single hit of the button will open the tray and auto eject
of media seems to work. The drive performs read/write functions normally
once the media can be inserted.

This is a Vista/ SP1 machine with all the upgrades from MS, but the
opening problem existed when the machine had previous OS , including XP,
installed. The OS has always been upgraded via a clean install.

Has anyone solved a similar problem or can point me in the right direction
for a solution?

TIA,

Wayne
