nForce2 Soundproblem
I'm owner of a asus a7n8x-board. this board has an nforce2-chipset from nvidia.
i run the vista beta2, but the sounddriver from nvidia is not compatible. wiht the sounddriver from microsoft there is only one!!! regulator for the volume in the soundpanel (no extra regulators/controls for microphone/wave/midi/etc.) and the 5.1-sound is not working. i've heard nvidia won't release support/drivers for nforce2. is this the truth? if yes i hate nvidia and i never will buy a nvidia or intel product in future! i hope microsoft will fix this problem with a correct working driver in the final windowsvista produkt or perhapsly soon with windows/microsoft update service. please microsoft realise a driver for the nforce2-sound ! if anyone can help me to get my windowsvista working correct with nforce2-soundchip so i'll be happy. btw: i'm a german guy. sorry for my bad english |

nForce2 Soundproblem
First off I'm in the same boat with a A7N8X-E board, yes I've been told
Nvidia is not supporting anything older than nforce 3 with Vista. I know there are a lot of these boards based on this chipset out there so there may be a swell of p*&^%d off people emailing Nvidia. My thought is that if MS's upgrade advisor says its compatible with Vista companies should make drivers to support it. Nvidia claims the nforce2 isn't compatible with Vista but I say thats not true. My old board works with the built in drivers but it would be nice to have an official driver for the chipset. They have said that they are not compatible, and because of the age of the M/B (I have 2 of these boards) they are not going to upgrade the drivers at all. The drivers supplied by Vista work fine here. The are obtained by Windows Update automatically. -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User (For email, remove the obvious from my address) Quote from George Ankner: If you knew as much as you think you know, You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew! |
