Default Network Icon shows no connection, but there is one!

Ok, I'm running Vista Home Premium on a Dell E510 desktop with a DSL line.
Router is a Linksys BEFSR41 and the computer is connected via Ethernet. Just
recently, the network icon in the notification area shows an "x" saying I am
not connected to a network yet I am still able to go online. When I try to
find my network, it is not there and in the Network and Sharing Center, it
says "access denied" where the map usually is. I tried doing the diagnose and
repair feature but to no avail.
I did a System Restore yesterday that seemed to fix the problem yet when I
turned my computer back on today, it shows the same thing as two days ago, a
red "x". My question is how can I get the network to show again?

Thanks for your help.

Posting the result of ipconfig /all may help.

Default Network Icon shows no connection, but there is one!

Sorry if this is TMI, but here is what I got. I found a solution that said to
type some command into the command line and it seemed to work, but I'm not
sure if it's a permanent fix. Also, the Windows Experience Index and Proc/Mem
are unavailable in the System Overview window and it seems to be because of
this issue. How can I get those to show up? I've done many searches but
found nothing. Thanks.

Any difference if you disable IPv6?

Default Network Icon shows no connection, but there is one!

I haven't tried to disable it yet. I found this thread that actually solved
my network problem:

http://www.xoxideforums.com/networki...ou-server.html

But, the WIndows Experience Index and Processor and Memory info says it is
"not available" on the System information. I've done a search, but found
nothing. If you have any suggestions it would be great! Thanks!
