You can't. There is no procedure for retrieving lost keys. RC1 itself has
not yet been released, but when it is, there may well be a chance to sign up
again.

Default Lost serial key beta 2/Do This

My advice to you is Andrea C:

1) Right now you can download the pre-RC1. That's the newest. RC1 won't be
released to the first group of users probably until around Sept 7 and then
you can re-enroll in the CPP for that.
2) When you get the key, email it to Andrea at several email addreses
including one that hits Outlook Express and Outlook if you have it and put
it in a folder.
3) Make a folder for the key. Don't delete the folder or email. Make a
practice never to delete the folder called Andrea's RC1 key.
4) You can try calling MSFT--they take activation of the CPP Beta's over the
phone and see if they will provide the key. Bottom of
http://support.microsoft.com
5) What do you do with your car keys and driver's license to keep from
losing them Andrea? Key to your house? You might also put the product key
there.

Good luck,

CH

There's no official procedure, but it can be done. if you've still got the
public Beta Installed.

The procedure is identical to how one does it in Windows XP.

There are a number of programs that will retrieve the key for you.

In my stupidity I accidently deleted the email with the original key on it.
At least I managed to hold on to the DVD I burned.

On the other hand, I never burned my Office 2007 Beta executable to DVD/CD
and I somehow deleted it. I downloaded it before they started charging. But
at least I still have the registration number. ;-)

But I digress..

The following programs were written for XP and below but they work just fine
with Vista. I tried them both.

Scott, yes, if the Beta is still installed, then it is fairly easy to find
your key using the methods you posted. Problem is, there have been quite a
few people who have downloaded pre-RC1 who either had no key to start with,
or have reverted back to XP in the meantime. Those who have reverted back
to XP and lost their emails are SOL.

I'm aware of that...

I really do not understand how hard it is for people to write down the
product key on the disc case they had for the beta 2 download.
With an important thing like a product key it seems people have no common
sense to back it up and just leave it sitting in an email.
Burn beta 2 to disc, put the product key on the case inlay. What is so hard
about that?
Sorry just having a rant, I am never surprised that people fall for such
stupidity :-)

I don't think it's necessarily stupidity, it's just forgetfulness.

In my case I'm a bit scatterbrain at times (it's an ADHD thang). I've
got text files scattered all over my hard drive with registration
numbers from various programs I've bought (I rarely buy boxed software).
So I have them, just don't ask me where they are. ;-)

Yes forgetfulness is one of those evil demons that pops up often with me.
Still, when someone receives the email, if they train themselves to write it
down or print it off immediately then less people will have a problem :-)

I deleted that email too, I installed it using a friends key but now I have
14 days to activate... those of us that registered should be able to retrieve
it!
