SATA DVD-RW Problems with Vista RTM x64
I've tried 2 different SATA DVD-RW drives now and Vista does not recognize
them as writeable devices - but read only devices: 1) Plextor PX-755SA (Firmware version 1.06) 2) Samsung SH-S183L (Firmware version SB00) DVD-RW device connected to a JMicron JMB363 controller (on an ASUS P5B Deluxe Wi-Fi/AP motherboard - 0804 Bios - configured as AHCI - JMicron 1.17.3.2 Vista driver). The driver used for both drives is Microsoft 6.0.6000.16386 dated 06/21/2006. Anybody else run into this problem and fixed it? TIA. |

SATA DVD-RW Problems with Vista RTM x64
I originally thought that the cause of this problem was with either the
JMicron controller and/or driver. So I tried to fix this problem with a SIIG PCIe SATA II controller which Vista RTM x64 recognized and loaded a driver for. Vista still does not recognize my SATA DVD-RW drive (either the Plextor or Samsung) connected to the SIIG SATA II controller as a writeable device. I can only conclude that the Microsoft Vista RTM x64 CD/DVD driver cannot correctlly identify and utilize a SATA DVD-RW device. Is there anyone out there successfully writing to their SATA DVD-RW drives from Vista RTM x64? |

SATA DVD-RW Problems with Vista RTM x64
I have been having the same problems with an external SATAII drive using the
the SIIG ExpressCard, using the MS drivers and the SIIG drivers for Vista. It worked fine with XP then the drives just disappeared after I upgraded to Vista. I have posted this issue to the Vista General fourm and on SIIG and still have not gotten a fix. Bill "Gerry" wrote in message ... I found that a tweak of my IDE settings in the BIOS took care of the problem
instantly. Only took a couple of days to get to that point! -- HTH, Kevin Spencer Microsoft MVP Bit Player http://unclechutney.blogspot.com Where there's a Will, there's a William. "William F.
