Upgrade from business to ultimate
Why does it have to be so painful...
I am trying to upgrade form business to ultimate. After30 minutes of doing stuff (which is supposed to only "unlock features"). I get the following in the setuplog: 2007-10-06 10:46:32, Error [0x06420c] IBSLIB ReadOrWriteSectorsWinNt: Couldn't set file pointer to 0x0[gle=0x00000003] 2007-10-06 10:46:32, Error [0x06420b] IBSLIB ReadOrWriteSectors: Failed to read sectors (start sector = 0xI64x, sector count = 0x0, sector size = 0x0) 2007-10-06 10:46:32, Error [0x0641ff] IBSLIB CheckSysPartAndReadBootCode: Error reading NTFS boot sectors! 2007-10-06 10:46:32, Error [0x064133] IBSLIB SaveBootSector: CheckSysPartAndReadBootCode failed to get boot sector. 2007-10-06 10:48:11, Error [0x06420c] IBSLIB ReadOrWriteSectorsWinNt: Couldn't set file pointer to 0x0[gle=0x00000003] 2007-10-06 10:48:11, Error [0x06420b] IBSLIB ReadOrWriteSectors: Failed to read sectors (start sector = 0xI64x, sector count = 0x0, sector size = 0x0) 2007-10-06 10:48:11, Error [0x0641ff] IBSLIB CheckSysPartAndReadBootCode: Error reading NTFS boot sectors! 2007-10-06 10:48:11, Error [0x06411c] IBSLIB UpdateBootCode: CheckSysPartAndReadBootCode failed! 2007-10-06 10:48:11, Error [0x06063d] IBS PrepareSystemToBootWindows: Failed to update boot code for system volume 2007-10-06 10:48:11, Error [0x060223] IBS Callback_UpdateBootCode: Unable to prepare drive to boot Windows. 2007-10-06 10:48:11, Error [0x060616] IBS Callback_UpdateBootCode:An error occurred while updating the boot code. Upgrade from business to ultimate
Thanks for replying.
I am using the Anytime Upgrade DVD I purchased from MS. The steps a 1. Launch the setup from DVD 2. Download the "newer" version sinc eit detects it 3. Upgrade starts (takes ~20 minutes to "assemble files") 4. Goes through a first pahse of upgrade 5. Give a vague error that states "Cannot continue with installation" and the only real errors I find are in the file above in C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.txt I would appreciate any help. Are you using an "Anytime Upgrade" key or the key from an Ultimate installation? "Bruno on Montreal" Bruno on wrote in message ... Why does it have to be so painful... Hello Bruno,
I know this issue is almost 4 years old, but wondering if you ever resolved the issue with "CheckSysPartAndReadBootCode: Error reading NTFS boot sectors!" when attempting to upgrade from Windows Vista Business to Vista Ultimate? I'm encountering the same exact error and Microsoft support has not been helpful. Thanks in advance for any assistance!
