So my Vista laptop updated last night and it said restart to finish updates
well I didn't restart it and waited for awhile then fell asleep and it restarted so I thought....when I woke up it didn't fully turn off so I had to hold the power button down to shut it down then I turned it back on but when I got to the sign in window and signed on it said preparing desktop which normally only opens when you install windows, anyways I got on and everything was back to like if I installed it, background was back to its default, and the sidebar didn't have any other gadgets except for the ones it comes with, but all my programs were still in my laptop but no short cuts for them were on the desktop just the default short cuts so I went to my documents.......nothing in there but when I looked it up in explorer I found they were still there in the same location so I looked at where the new my documents were location and it was in C:\Temp which told me this may be only temporary so I held the power button down again so the new settings wouldn't get saved and restarted it and then signed back on after powering it up and found everything was back to normal.....so I thought some programs got screwed up......Microsoft word wont let click where the text goes or highlight anything and on the setup menu for it, it wont let me click the tabs, and when I close it, it starts not responding, and checking for solutions. I'm running windows vista ultimate X-86 based with 1 GB of RAM and Athlon dual cores |
