Default Vista Product Key

Hey.
Just downloaded the pre RC1, but I dont have my product key any more. Is
there any way to get it back? Or does somebody have an extra one they
wouldn't mind letting me use?

Where do you find the product key?
Can you just use the same one you used for Beta 2?

No-one will let you have a product key in a newsgroup. If you have lost the
one from the Beta 2 program and do not have an MSDN operating systems
subscription minimum, you will not be able to install the Pre-RC1. Wait for
the RC1.

So if you do have a Produckt Key from Beta 2, it WILL work with the Pre-RC1?

Hi,

Install without it, just click 'next' at the Product Key screen. You get 30
days without it to try the software out. As it's a beta, you should only be
running it as a test OS anyways. The alternative is to wait for the public
release of Windows Vista, which has already reached the stage of final
code.

Default Vista Product Key

Rick:

thanks for the response...This is a test machine only (we are developing a
software for Windows and would like to test on Vista). For some reason, when
I boot up, Vista takes me straight to the activation key menu and there is no
Next button...My options are to re-enter product key (i did this a few times
with no success), try alternate methods (I tried phone to no avail) or enter
in reduced functionality (browser only which doesn't offer much alternatives
either)

any ideas? reinstall?

thanks, raza

Default Vista Product Key

Rick:

I just reinstalled from scratch and it worked...the first time around i
didn;t have the email with the product key so I bypassed adn then it wouldnt
accept my key..on a total reinstall it worked...doesn't matter too much i
guess cuz I am playing with RC1 when I should already be playing with RC2...

the bad news for us is that our application doesn't install....it has
something to with .NET 1.1 and 2.0 but I am not sure what yet...

thanks, raza

OK then. It is official, i will not recommend any use of Vista (especially
64-bit) except experimentally until at least SP1.
