Default Vista is constantly rebooting

Sorry, I posted this under the subject of "Hello all" and thought it wouldn't
catch your eyes!

I am in a constant reboot sequence with vista build 5536. I have booted from
the DVD and selected repair to no avail. Vista Beta 2 was working well, so
I'm not sure what the problem is. It may be simple, where do I start. The
install went well up until I stated "Starting Windows Vista for the first
time". I got the copyright banner then the moving green bar the logo on the
bottom right and then reboot. This is constant.

I had the same problem when I tried upgrading from Vista beta 2, but when I
did a full install, every thing went well and runs great.

I had a similar problem when I tried to upgrade from B2. I received a
warning at the beginning of the install that AVAST was not compatible with
5536, but went ahead. I finally just did a full install instead of the
upgrade. Did you happen to be running AVAST? I suspect that was the
problem, but have no way to test it now.

(The issue with AVAST is apparently unique to this build and will be fixed -
AVAST is a good AV program)

I was running Avast, but removed it before upgrading to 5536 as I read that
it didn't work with this build. I am currently reinstalling a new DVD with
a slower burn just to see if that might have been a problem. Thanks for
your response! I did roll back to my previous Beta 2 version and it did
it's thing and did work, thanks MSFT! I do think it may be a video driver
issue as the resolution went way down on the last reboot before 5536 was set
up. I could not get into Vista anyway, safe or otherwise to see what the
problem may have been.

So you are recommending choosing the full install that overwrites all files,
programs, etc? Because I cannot get back to or reinstall XP and the only
option I get to re-install Vista is that option.
