Default Vista Pre RC1 Key not needed

Hi,
I installed Vista Pre RC1 in a VMWare virtual machine. Altough it ask me
for the key, I left it blank and finished the installation and it's working
without issues. I don't have a beta 2 key, so I want to be sure it's no
needed when I installed in my personal PC. Has anyone installed it without
any key number? How it works? Does it needs activation?

Thanks,
Danny

Danny;
Activation is required if Vista is to run more than 14 days.
Since you did not insert a key, you can not activate and it is done after 14
days.

Default Vista Pre RC1 Key not needed

I'm curious about this answer too because I installed Vista without the
Product Key so I'd be presented with a choice of installations (eg,
Business). I needed a smaller install given some space constraints. I now
need to insert the Product Key, which I have, in order to activate Vista. Any
suggestions? Many thanks...

The Product Key you have is probably for Ultimate and will not work with
Business.
You will need to install Ultimate to use your key.

Sign up for the Vista download:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist...y/preview.mspx
It does not matter you already have Vista.

The last step will give you the Product Key which should work on this build.

Start/Help and Support
For information about activating.
You should be able to enter your Product Key.
