I don't know about that. My previous (Toshiba) laptop under XP was
certainly not doing it.

Furthermore, on my current laptop, running on battery and IN POWER
SAVER MODE, well get this, it gets WORSE: the HD LED light stops
blinking and it stays ON ALL THE TIME. I've actually
just realised this thanks to your post. Could it be then that the power
options are somehow at fault here?
