Hello,
I'm having an issue with install - it could be my video card or my monitor or the combo of the two. I have an X850 connected via DVI to my 30" dell. I've installed Windows XP on it from scratch numerous times without incident but I had a similar issue when trying Media Center. During install - it will start with the install bar (black and white screen) at the very beginning but then go black and stay black for 30 minutes. This same CD will install on other systems. This is probably an issue with my video card and or screen but I thought I'd post in case anyone else happened to have this combo. I'll try hooking up an old monitor tomorrow if I get the chance. |

I had this "black screen of death" problem when doing a clean Vista RC1
install booting from DVD. I finally got Vista to work by FIRST installing a clean Windows XP Pro SP2, adding nVidia WHQL certified drivers (from nVidia's site) and then UPGRADING to Vista RC1 running setup from within XP Pro SP2. Happy now, runs really fast, much better than previous builds. Hector Obregon MSDN Regional Director Mexico City "boe" wrote in message ...
