Default RC1 thinks Nero is installed won't continue upgrade.

The upgrade from beta 2 to rc1 stops because it thinks I have nero burning
rom installed. I did try installing nero 7 previously but the install never
finished but it did show up in my 'Installed Programs'. I tried uninstalling
it from there several times with no luck. The (UN)installer crashes every
time. I ended up manually deleting every nero related thing...I have also
scoured the registry and all my disks getting rid of all 'nero' and 'ahead'
no easy feat. If there is somewhere you can tell it to install anyway or if
anyone knows exactly WHERE its looking during the compatbility check, I'd
love to know so that I can get rid of whatever files it may be finding. I am
really hoping to avoid a clean install.
Thanks in Advance.

Sorry for the double post, the first one said there was an error and it
wasnt sent. Guess it lied.

Try HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Prod ucts
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products
ckick on each of the folders that have numbers and read the right side for
product name
back up and delete any key with nero

Try using regedit from Start-Run then "Regedit" then click edit- find and
search for all "ahead", "Nero" then remove all those entries by hand and
remove them.
See if that helps. It's a stab in the dark.

Alot of Aheads stuff makes so many BS entries to the registry it can
seriously be a pain to remove them all, I just with third parties weren't
allowed any access to the registry since it's so easy to damage But hey I
can dream LOL Hope this helps

"Michelle" could also download the various utilities available at the Nero
web site that are designed to remove all traces of a Nero installation.
