Hi, i've tried beta2 of vists, the cp build and the rc1 but can never get it
to install.

I have a decent system spec and the upgrade advisor says my pc is fine.

im using an amd64
1gig ram
512mb 7800gt
200gb (not sata)
WinFast PX6200 tctdh main board

Basically, it goes through the installation, start up, i get the boot loader
then it just dies. I've tried safe mode too but it just restarts itself. I've
never been able to try it out and now it's on rc1 is ***** me off a little.

Anyone know how to fix this.

p.s. im installing on a 40bg partition to dual boot with xp home.

Just a suggestion, have you tried removing 'all' USB peripherals - i.e.,
modem, printer webcam etc? I do this as a matter of course with all
operating system installs.

I accidentally left the USB devices connected when installing Vista to a
VMware Server (virtual Machine) on my PC and, although it partly loaded, it
got stuck right at the end even though i had tried restarting the virtual
machine a number of times it still stuck in the same spot. After 4 hours it
still was on the same screen. I closed the virtual machine down, took the
USB peripherals out and restarted and Vista completed installation.

I can't guarantee that it will work, but it is worth a try.

ok, i'll give it a try when i get home. I have tried this with the earlier
builds but not with rc1 as of yet. Thanks

One other thing to make sure is that if you have a DVI port on your video
card with a TV or extra monitor hooked to it, Vista defaults to that DVI
port. This has happened to me every time. The first time I thought it
died, then I unplugged my TV from the DVI port, rebooted, and it was fine.

No, i do have a dvi connector but it's just the standard connector i use as
my tft doesn't support it.

I've also tried unplugging all usb devices. The loader screen comes up but
then give me the dreaded blue screen of death.

Can't quite work it out. I'm not going to be purchasing vista unless i can
get one of these builds working the way it should and hastle free.
