My enviromental variables insist that I have both an AMD and an Intel Core 2
Duo processor. I del. the AMD and next time I check its back in there. This hard drive was new and has never had an AMD connected to it. With the exception that my second maching that is on a direct LAN with has an AMD 64. Does my box need to go see a shrink? |

PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE AMD64
PROCESSOR_IDENTIFIER EM64T Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 6, GenuineIntel Is that not telling me that it is slightly confused? BNy the way I did a complete wipe o the drive today and reinstalled. It comes up the same. This is without any other hardware, software, updates, nothing but the first real start after install. Hi,
EM64T is Intel's clone of AMD's 64 bit instruction set, which is what your Intel processor is based on. You can read more on it he http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86-64 What you are seeing is the system recognizing it as AMD's technology. Intel's 64-bit version of the processor instruction set is IA-64. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Charles" wrote in message ...
