Since installing and uninstalling a Vista update last week that shut down my
connectivity, I have only been able to access the internet via IE7--and there only after a long pause to detect proxy settings on startup. Windows media player, Firefox, Itunes are all unable to connect. Could this be because they are unable to follow the proxy settings set by IE7? |

one other piece of info. when I start in safe mode with networking I connect
fine to all programs. I've tried connecting with windows firewall off and that doesn't help. I'm not running other firewall software, only symantec antivirus. I've tried disabling all startup programs and that doesn't fix things either. Work computer or home computer? Are you sure you don't have Norton
Internet Security installed (it is normally bundled with the AV on computers). --- Jeffrey Randow Windows Networking MVP 2001-2006 http://www.networkblog.net On Sat, 20 Oct 2007 08:59:02 -0700, Brown wrote: one other piece of info. when I start in safe mode with networking I connect fine to all programs.
