Install Vista from hard disk

I've downloaded Vista RC1 and id like to know if i can install it without
writing it onto a dvd (i dont have a dvd writer). And when can i get a serial
number, or can it be installed without it? Id like to exctract the iso file
onto drive C and then install it onto drive D after formatting it. Would it
work?
