Unknown Device
I have a 3 month old Acer laptop and at startup over the past couple of days,
its finding new hardware. However I've not added hardware apart from a Microsoft mouse. Having contacted Acer the say I should re-nstall the o/s (Vista Home Prem). They feel its a software problem. Which seems a bit drastic, so before I do, does anyone whse had experience of this annoying problem or knows of a way apart from disabling it in Device Manager. Incidentally t shows up in the "Sound, Video and Games Controller" section of Device Manager. -- andypomf Bury, England |

Here is the Realtek download site:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...vel=3 &Conn=2 Make sure you download the correct drivers (AC'97 or High Definition). You will have better luck if you first go to Device Manager and uninstall the Realtek device -- make SURE to check the box to delete the driver files -- and go to Control Panel (Classic view) Programs and Features, and uninstall the Realtek driver. REBOOT. Install the downloaded drivers and reboot again. I Bleed Blue and Gold GO BEARS! "andypomf" wrote in message ... In my case the unknown device was the midi player. I turned off the port in
the bios and have had no problems since. It just was not supported under Vista. -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User (For email, remove the obvious from my address) "andypomf" wrote in message ... Thanks , Richard for that, as I have indicated to Choogster in another
posting, in the Hardare Ids for this unknown device it shows - *MusCD, so I think it has something to do with playing Music from the DVD/CD on the laptop. -- andypomf Bury, England "Richard Urban" wrote: In my case the unknown device was the midi player.
