External NTFS Drive not recognized in Vista
Hi. If I connect my WD Passport 160GB formated with NTFS filesystem it shows
as RAW in vista, and it tells me to format it. Works in XP but Vista wont accept the NTFS format it seems. Works perfect with Fat32, but then I'll have to have 5 partitions of 30GB and that isnt really an option. Any Ideas? |

External NTFS Drive not recognized in Vista
Well, I'm sure you've figured something out by now, but I had a similar problem with a new drive I had formatted in XP and now put into an external enclosure and tried to use it in Vista. I got Vista to recognize the partition and data that was on it by: Go into computer management and right click on the disk you want Vista to recognize. Click the "Mark Partition as Active" choice from the menu. Then just set the drive letter and path from the same right click menu. This should set your drive as active and vista should be able to read it now and see it as an NTFS formatted drive. -- Jebelbryan Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |
