installing a printer
I just installed Vista Ultimate in 1 of my machines on the network, the
others are running windows XP Pro. the printer is shared on the network attached to the XP Pro machine. when I tried to install it on the vista machine it gives me an error saying that the driver is for XP not vista. my question is how do I install the printer on teh vista machine from the XP Pro shared machine but using the new vista driver? |

First set up File/Printer sharing. Excellent, thorough, yet easy to understand article about File/Printer Sharing in Vista. Includes details about sharing printers as well as files and folders: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb727037.aspx Then go to the printer mftr.'s website and download Vista drivers for your specific model printer. Install the Vista printer drivers on the Vista machine. The printer should be found during the installation routine. When you are asked for the connection details, choose "network printer or printer attached to another computer". Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!"
