Default Dot Matrix Printing...

I have a need to use a dot matrix printer with Vista to print on multi-part
forms. If I print from Word 2007 will it print as text or a graphic image?
Any advice???

Thanks,
Martin.

If you have the generic driver loaded, it will print as text. If you have
the
printer's specific driver loaded, it will print as graphics and be very
slow.
At least that's what I found with Panasonic dot-matrix printers.

Adding a little to Tom's post, most dot matrix printers have resident fonts
and these fonts will appear in the font list from Word when the printer is
selected. If you use one of these native fonts, you'll get full speed
printing. If you use a Windows font that is not resident in the printer,
the text must be rendered as a bitmap graphic and will print slow.

IIRC they used to have a specific Printer icon to identify them -- I wonder
if VISTA knows this and shows that icon?
