I connect to the internet via a cable modem which is plugged into a hub.
Every computer i own can connect to the internet with no hassle through this hub and all the internet settings are automatically adjusted. i recently bought a laptop with vista installed on it, and due to a million-and-one internet security settings it will only let me connect to 'local only'. I've gone through and changed every setting i can think of, even comparing them to the xp computers that are currently connecting fine. Has anyone else encountered this problem? how the hell do you fix it? |

i've gone through and had a look for new firmware and haven't managed to find
any. I'm using an NTL: 250 cable modem, but now the company's been taken over my Virgin Media. I'm sure it's something to do with vista not the cable modem... some minor hardware setting preventing it from connecting... if someone could figure it out for me that would be great. thanks for the effort though, rob "Robert L.
