Default Ad-Hoc together with wireless Interweb connection

Hi, got a dell 6400 which have connected up to the net via NETGEAR DG834G
wireless router. But I just got myself a smartphone and have tried out
surfing with the smartphone via the router. Works fine. Tried to create an
ad-hoc between laptop and phone. Works fine.
BUT everytime I connect to the ad-hoc network, the internet connection is
lost!!! why??? Can the 1390 WLAN mini-card in my laptop only deal with ONE
wireless connection at the time?/?
Help appreciated! (must be someone out there with an wireless internet
connection and a ad-hoc connection to another gadget)
Cheers

hmmm... eh what?
Thanks for reply, so you say I can connect two computers VIA router while
one (or more) are STILL connected to the interweb?
How do I proceed to do that? (sorry, I'm but a greenhorn when it comes to
this....)
again, thanks for your reply...
