DEP keeps closing Spooler SubSystem App - can't print

I have a HP LaserJet 1020 printer and DEP on my Windows Vista laptop keeps
closing the Spooler SubSystem App, so I can't print. I have tried all the
"fixes" on here to no avail. I am trying to find out how to turn DEP OFF. I
have tried to get into the boot configuration data to do so, but it won't let
me in, even when I click "Run as Administrator". Now what? Anybody have a
step-by-step fix for this thing? Thanks.

Start

Advanced system settings
Advanced
Performance Settings
Data Execution Prevention

I am assuming you are running the HP Vista driver for this released in May.

DEP keeps closing Spooler SubSystem App - can't print

I just went through some hassles with this driver with a guy who works here
at microsoft. We attempted disabling DEP and it would not for the spooler.

I was able to get the 1020 going using the drier from 5/18/2007.

The main issue he had was when he purchased the printer a month back, he
installed the software that came with the printer from 7/2006, then later
installed the 5/18/2007 drivers which don't mix with the old drivers. The
printer was pointing to the previous print processor and continually killing
the spooler.

Delete the old drivers before adding the new drivers. If the spooler won't
stay up long enough to delete the drivers you will need to remove the
registry entries.
