Hi. I am new to the forum. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium (with current updates.) I am having this same problem; however, I seem to have stumbled on a temporary 'fix.' When I get this error, I open Paint from Windows Photo Gallery (WPG), and just click on File and just Save (I made no changes in Paint.) When I go back to WPG, any changes I make will 'autosave.' It's an annoying extra step, but at least I'm not completely stalled. It seems to 'unlock' the file, if that is what the problem was. I am only a GUI user, and keep hunting and clicking until I find a solution (or not.) I have no idea why this works. It also works if I use any other photo editor program (i.e. Adobe Photoshop Elements) and then go back to WPG. I haven't worked on my photo editing for a while, so I don't know when this problem started or what triggered it, so I didn't want to try the Restore plan. I have no idea how far I would have to go back. As I said, I'm no computer expert, but I thought I'd share this in case it helps point to a solution. -- momtodogs |

Thanks, momtodogs. I will certainly try your fix. I prefer to use Photo Gallery because my Paint doesn't have a "crop". But have found that Paint does a better job of resizing. Will let this board know if your solution works for me. -- mags1939 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mags1939's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/132801.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-music-video/857917.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

Yeah, momtodogs, your solution to the Photo Gallery problem works for me also. How in the world did you ever think to open an edited picture in Paint to save? Brilliant idea. -- mags1939 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mags1939's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/132801.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-music-video/857917.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

I think you'll like this more then Photo Gallery.

Yes, I have Paint; but it does not "crop" like Photo Gallery does -or at least I haven't found out how to crop in Paint. Using Photo Gallery to crop, then open the page up in Paint, then saving from Paint works. Momtodogs told me how to do that - works fine. -- mags1939 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mags1939's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/132801.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-music-video/857917.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

I didn't say *Paint*. I said **Paint.NET**.

When following up to a previous post, you don't need to include everything.
Snip out what's not relevant. But do include what is relevant. Some people may have missed the previous posts. "mags1939" wrote in message ...
