New Dell computer running that crappy Windows Vista system. After editing
any JPEG in Windows Photo Gallery, I get a pop up that "changes to this picture cannot be saved because Photo Gallery has experienced a problem". These are regular JPEG's that are on my desktop. They are not locked or funny file names, or any of the other obvious problems. Anybody out there able to help a cpu novice on this one? My wife is ready to throw this brand new computer away because of the problems running anything on Vista. BTW, pretty ironic, it is trying to block me out of this site, that it recommends I go to with problems. Larry S. Savannah, GA |

Mine too - new Dell computer - when trying to save changes to a single JPEG i
get the error message and then an image of the dell DSC icon appears, and this i think is preventing the save as it is an icon file. Why this happens i do not know but some (but not all) of my jpegs are from a sony camera that names its file DSC00123 etc. Anyone any ideas? I have this exact issue. I have a Dell too (XPS 600) which I upgrade with a
new install from Windows XP to Vista. I called dell and they refuse to help because I upgraded and they will only support Windows XP on this machine. WPG will not save photo after editing........sez "Changes to this picture
can't be saved because it's no longer available. You might have lost your network connection or the picture might have been deleted." Not on a network and picture sure as s--t ain't been deleted. Seemed like this worked ok before; don't suppose it's due to one or more of the 6 dozen updates this FU'd OS (vista home premium crap) has required thus far...........? Mebbe' I should spend $59 over at MS"help" to remedy?! If due to some FU on my part...........I take it all back.......help! -- ms-whaddabunchacrap "Texaspeterson" wrote: I have this exact issue. How are you trying to save the picture?
WPG "auto-saves" the changes you've made to a picture. There's no action you need to take to save it. You also have the option to undo any changes you've made and revert to the original. ------- *Report back, please* [When responding to posts, please include the post(s) you are replying to so that others may learn and benefit from the issue] [How to ask a question] http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 http://dts-l.net/goodpost.htm http://oakroadsystems.com/genl/unice.htm "ms-whaddabunchacrap" wrote in message ... Edited some photos today and they are saving just fine. I take back all disparaging remarks about Vista. It has apparently fixed itself...a property I suspected (hoped?) is inherent in the OS. Vista Home Premium..is..all right! |

I am having the same problem with a Gateway computer. Have been able to edit and save before; now all of a sudden I get an error message "Photo can not be saved because of a problem with Photo Gallery". Have downloaded the Windows Live Photo Gallery in the hopes that would take care of the problem; but problem still exists. -- mags1939 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mags1939's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/132801.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-music-video/857917.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

Hi. I am new to the forum. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium (with current updates.) I am having this same problem; however, I seem to have stumbled on a temporary 'fix.' When I get this error, I open Paint from Windows Photo Gallery (WPG), and just click on File and just Save (I made no changes in Paint.) When I go back to WPG, any changes I make will 'autosave.' It's an annoying extra step, but at least I'm not completely stalled. It seems to 'unlock' the file, if that is what the problem was. I am only a GUI user, and keep hunting and clicking until I find a solution (or not.) I have no idea why this works. It also works if I use any other photo editor program (i.e. Adobe Photoshop Elements) and then go back to WPG. I haven't worked on my photo editing for a while, so I don't know when this problem started or what triggered it, so I didn't want to try the Restore plan. I have no idea how far I would have to go back. As I said, I'm no computer expert, but I thought I'd share this in case it helps point to a solution. -- momtodogs |
