Vista Ultimate 64x and USB Memory Problems
I used to have no problem with my various usb memory products and
vista apart from slow file copying but now whenever I insert anything usb memory related I get the format question and if I do accept to format then it just freezes and never completes. I have a 2GB SD card that works fine on Windows XP and my Treo but will not work with Vista and experience the format question everytime it is plugged in. I have a stylus 820 olympus camera with 1 gb XD memory and it will not work with Vista - get the same format message. This camera works immediately with XP and I have no problems. This is definitely a huge bug with Vista and I can see from other postings on the web that this is an issue for some other people as well. Is there anyway to fix this really annoying problem? |

I should add that if I try to format in ntfs the sd card will work fine. Also if I try to format the SD card from the command line for fat with either quick option or full format it will work and say format completed but then immediately pop up the card not recognized would you like to format ordeal? So is this a problem with Vista 64x and Fat? How long has Fat been around, you'd think MS would have a handle on this by now? |

In the log it detected and fixed corrupt fat related system files. Its all working fine now. Hope this helps someone else with this problem |
