Default DVD/CD Drive not even showing up!

Thanks Peter: will try, but first, just wondering if a registry program
such as registry mechanic or regcure would fix the problem, I see they
have advertised fixes for code 10 errors. I don't want to spend the
money on one if it won't work.

DO NOT (do not) touch any registry cleaning tool or any registry fixes being advertised. They are all snake oil
remedies.

The MS KB I sent you has to be done as per instructions manually. AGAIN. Do NOT touch any registry cleaning or repairing tool. You can end up messing your system up beyond repair and not be able to reboot also on top of that.
