Default Vista internal memory

I have 2x2 dual channel memory slots in which I had 4x 512 Mb DDR 400 Twinmos
memory. I replaced 2x512 MB by 2x 1Gb, also Twinmos, same type and all, so in
totall I have now 3 Gb. In the bios start up I see 3 Gb recognised. However,
in Vista I only see 2 Gb? I have tried the 2 pairs in both slots , of course
I have the same speed paired in 1 slot. Can anyone explain why vista
recognises only 2 Gb?? And what is my actual memory speed now, since the bios
does see 3 Gb? Thanks for your reply.
regards,
Cilia/ Netherlands

As it appears that your system recognises you have 3 gb, I can only assume
that you are running a "lower grade" Vista version like Home basic.
Depending on the version you are running, there seems to be a limit on how
much memory it will recognise.

Hope this helps
