Default Driver download for printer

I just bought a new dell laptop that comes with vista. It is not compatible
with my epson cx4800 printer although I did find a driver for it. My question
is should I download the printer cd onto the laptop 1st and then download the
driver or download the driver 1st and printer cd 2nd? or doesn't it matter?
thanks

Default Driver download for printer

CX indicates a multifunction device which will include a scanner. It is
critical that the sequence of installation recommended by the mfg be
followed, especially for when to attach and power the printer. Failure to do
this will fail to install properly and the device will go unrecognized.

Not knowing what's on the CD makes it hard to advise you, but usually its
some added fluff that you may not even need. You will need a printer driver
and a scanner driver, and they will have to be installed first - many times,
but find your readme files for certainty. Then plug in and power up,
possibly in reverse order only when told to do so by the driver installation
software. You'll likely have to reboot before connecting the devices, too.

Good luck.
