Default Remote Assistance

Hi,

I have a client with four computers at their office. Three running Windows
Vista Home Basic, and one running Windows Vista Business. I've set things up
so that the Windows Vista Business computer can be connected to remotely via
RDP (static private IP, forwarded 3389 from router to that IP, etc.) This
works great. I've also set up Windows Live Messenger on all of the
computers, so they can request Remote Assistance from me -- I'm on Windows XP
Pro SP2. For the Windows Vista Home Basic computers (at least the two that
I've tested this with -- one using a static private IP, and the other
dynamic), RA also works great. However, for some reason, whenever I try to
connect to the Windows Vista Business computer using RA (also via Windows
Live Messenger), I get this common error:

"The Remote Assistance connection could not be established. You may want to
check for network issues or determine if the invitation expired or was
cancelled by
the person who sent it."

Now, I believe this worked once... but hasn't since. Considering RDP works
great to this computer, any suggestions as to why RA doesn't?

Thanks,
Kurosh

Default Remote Assistance

Hi,

Okay, it seems to have been some kind of user error or temporary glitch... I
mimicked the situation by connecting with RDP to the Vista Business computer,
and then tried to set up an RA session between myself and that computer, and
it worked fine. I'll test it tomorrow with the user, when they are back in
the office.

Thanks,
Kurosh

Default Remote Assistance

Hi,

My last post didn't seem to work for some reason... it's there, but blank?

Anyways, I was just writing to let you know that the problem with RA seemed
to be either a temporary glitch or user error... I tried to mimick the
situation by using RDP to connect to the Vista Business computer, and then
sent an RA invitation (via Live Messenger) to myself from that computer. It
connected fine. I'll test this with the user tomorrow, when they are back in
the office.

Best Wishes,
Kurosh
