I just installed a new router and my XP computer is working but my Vista
Laptop is stuck in "Local Only" on my Wireless connection. I had this problem before and had to reload Norton Internet Security. The Tech at Norton had no suggestions this time. I would like to find the security setting that is protecting me. |

Shot in the dark:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930517 My suggestion would be to run away from the Norton program as fast as you can... ![]() --- Jeffrey Randow Windows Networking MVP 2001-2006 http://www.networkblog.net On Wed, 28 Nov 2007 19:28:00 -0800, Cam wrote: I just installed a new router and my XP computer is working but my Vista Laptop is stuck in "Local Only" on my Wireless connection. This is a silly suggestion, BUT, it has been a cause!. Right-click norton's
icon in the task bar, and see if it has blocked the internet. I get the "local only" from time to time when I get interference from one of
my neighbours routers. If your vista computer is at a greater distance from the router than your other computer it would be more likely to be affected by interference. Try resetting your router and changing the channel that it is using.
