Does anyone have a link on how to configure firewalls between 2 Vista
machines to allow Remote Assistance? I've disabled the Windows OneCare firewalls on both machines and the invitation still doesn't work -- I believe I need to configure the routers to permit certain ports or something to make it work -- but, I haven't been able to find specifics on how to do this, what ports, etc... Anyone able to help?! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Thanks -- that'll probably do it, but, in those directions there's mention of
entering the computer's IP address -- occasionally, this changes... do I need to make an entry for what it might be? For those who might also want the info, here's the text from the link he provided: This how to based on Linksys BEFVP41 router and the example is forwarding port 3389 for TS access. 1. Run Web-based Utilities by using an internet browser. Type the router's IP in address, for example, http://192.168.1.1. 2. Click The Applications & Gaming tab. 3. You will see the Port Range Forwarding screen. 4. Enter TS as the name of the application. 5. Enter 3389 as port # under Start and End. 6. Select Both for TCP and UDP. 7. In IP Address, Enter the private IP address of one computer that you want to access. Note: to find the computer's IP address, run Command Prompt on the XP, type ipconfig command and press Enter. 8. Check the Enabled box to enable the services you have defined. Port Range Forwarding will not function if the Enabled button is left unchecked. 9. Click the Save Settings button to save these changes. |
