Default Can't see my XP Pro laptop from my Vista Home Premuim PC

I have tried in several discussion groups/forums but still have no answer ...
I have a Belkin router with a wired Vista Home Premium PC and a
wired/wireless XP Pro laptop - they are both in the same workgroup (checked
and checked!) ...
I can connect to the Internet from both machines perfectly ...
I can see the Vista PC from the XP laptop and (having changed Vista PC
folder permissions) I can see and access files on the Vista PC from the XP
laptop (even with both firewalls on) - I can also use the printers connected
to the Vista PC from the XP laptop ...
However (even with both firewalls off) I cannot even see the XP laptop from
the Vista PC - in Network and Sharing Center/View computers and devices all I
can see is the Vista PC itself ...
I have installed KB922120 on the XP laptop but still can't see it from the
Vista PC ...

CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE - I CANNOT BELIEVE I'M THE ONLY ONE TO TRY THIS
COMBINATION???

KB922120 installs the LLTD Responder, which should make the XP computer visible
in the Network Map. The Network window, similar to My Network Places in Windows
XP, is different.

You probably have a problem with the NetBT setting, or with a personal firewall.

There are other details when networking computers running Windows Vista.

You may be able to diagnose your problem, using logs from "browstat status",
"ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net config workstation", from each
computer. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions
precisely (download browstat!) (run the command window, in Vista, as an
administrator):

Have a read of the above link re Vista File and Printer Sharing.

1st thing to do is make sure that the Workgroup Name of ALL the computers is
the SAME.

In Vista Network and Sharing:

Network Discovery: ON (So it can see the other computers)

Network set to Private (Public is for hotspots, airports, etc)

File Sharing: ON

Public Folder Sharing: ON (Vista’s Public Folder is the same as XP’s Shared
Docs)

Password Protected: OFF (unless you want to set up identical usernames and
passwords on ALL computers in your Network) If you have it ON, you will be
asked for a username and password when you try to access a Vista computer
from an XP computer.

Also, run the XP’s Home Network File and Printer sharing Wizard

Provide some diagnostics, maybe we can help spot the problem. See my post
above.
