Goto Control Panel / Network and Sharing Center. Page is blank except for
"The page failed to load" right in the middle. LAN continues to somewhat function, but wireless is no longer functioning. Network notification icon on task bar is disabled. I have no idea when this stopped functioning, but sometime in the last week. |

Did you find a solution to this problem?
I have the exact same thing. You may want to add Administrators to Local Service. This post may help.

I have finally figured this one out after months and months of having this issue. I have a Dell XPS M1710 so your mileage may vary. One day in August, I no longer saw the network icon on the task tray. If I went to the Network and Sharing Center, I got a blank page with the "The page failed to load" error on it. It didn't matter to me much as I used the WiFi more then anything and the Connect To window still worked as did my WiFi card. Fast forward to today. I finally got tired of searching the Internet for a solution and not getting a real answer. So I ran sfc /SCANNOW on my system. In reading 'How to analyze the log file entries that the Microsoft Windows Resource Checker (SFC.exe) program generates in Windows Vista' (http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;928228) I found that it encountered an error on a particular file. 2008-01-16 10:49:05, Info XXX 000000dc [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:18{9}]"QUTIL.DLL" of Microsoft-Windows-NetworkAccessProtection-Common, Version = 6.0.6000.16386, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_INTEL (0), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch So I followed the 'Some Windows Vista functions may not work, or Windows Vista may stop responding' (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833) on the QUTIL.DLL file that the error indicated. My laptop has a Recovery partition on the hard drive that happened to contain the QUTIL.DLL file, so using the above KB entry, I copied the file over to my Windows installation and rebooted. When the system came back up, I had a network icon on my task tray. When I opened up the Network and Sharing Center, I now see the correct information. I hope this information helps everyone that is experiencing this issue. Korey -- kcmon Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

Hi, and I'm sorry to bump this thread but I face a similar problem at the moment and QUTIL.dll does not seem to be the issue. I downloaded a non-corrupted one anyway and it didn't do anything. I ran sfc /SCANNOW twice and it repaired stuff but not everything. I tried running my recovery disc but it didn't help me with this. And the System Recovery utility was turned off for some reason. After I turned it on, I found no restoration points to go back to. Eventually I will just give up and format, but I'd like to get it fixed instead. My wireless works at networks already saved but it won't find new networks wherever I go to. I'm looking forward for a good tip on how to solve this. Thank you! -- Eryx |

If sfc /SCANNOW doesn't fix the problem, try clean boot.
